Consumer and Experiential Space Home - Consumer and Experiential Space One of the most recent and unique trends in urbanism, spatial planning, and architecture has been the growth of experiential, branded, and lifestyle spaces. Like themed and consumer spaces of the past, these spaces reflect an integration of culture and thematic deployment in terms of how architecture and (often stereotypical) cultural values are merged. What marks these spaces different is how they are increasingly targeting and altering the lives of individuals who occupy them. Whereas in the past themed spaces purported to take individuals to far-off, exotic, and unimagined locales, experiential, branded, and lifestyle spaces reflect a movement of the architecture/culture nexus inward, intensifying the experience of the everyday. This site is designed to bring together architects, anthropologists, urban planners (including professionals and academics) interested in sharing commentary, resources, Web sites, readings, photos, conferences and events, and other information of interest related to consumer, branded, experiential, and lifestyle spaces.

I just noted that Jeanne van Eeden joined the site. I know that Dave Gottwald (also now a member) has been looking at some of the Kerzner design stuff and his work on the Lost City is the subject of Jeanne's research. Just thought you two would have a good dialogue on the Kerzner design materials, Scott
